Course description
This course refreshes the electrical hazards presented by high voltage vehicle systems and components, along with the chemical and fire hazards of lithium-ion battery systems. It reviews relevant changes in industry practices and standards for electric and hybrid vehicle and battery safety.
Refresher periodicity
Annual online refresher — 6 hours
Reviews electrical safe work practices, test equipment, new technology, and updates to relevant standards and industry practice. There is no exam. Completion documents refresher training; it does not renew assessed practical competency.
Every third year — 2 days in person
Reviews and assesses Level 2 skills with a written exam and practical performance assessment, including isolation, absence-of-voltage verification, and recommissioning. Participants who pass receive ElecTrain Level 2 recertification.
This cycle is ElecTrain’s recommended program schedule. It is not presented as a required automotive retraining interval under NFPA 70E. Employers determine task-specific authorization after training.
Who this course is for
Technicians and other personnel who previously completed the Level 2 Electric Vehicle High Voltage Technician Certification course and need continuing training or recertification. This course does not qualify participants to work on live voltages.
