Continue your Level 3 learning for energized electric vehicle systems and high-voltage batteries. ElecTrain offers an annual online refresher and a more extensive in-person recertification every third year.
Refresher schedule
Annual online refresher — 2 hours
Review electrical safe work practices, hazard and risk assessment, equipment and technology changes, battery hazards, and incident response through discussion and scenario analysis. There is no written exam or practical performance assessment. Completion documents refresher training; it does not renew assessed practical competency.
Every third year — 1 day in person
Review Level 3 concepts and apply them to energized vehicle and battery scenarios. The session includes a written exam and practical performance assessment. Participants who meet the assessment criteria receive ElecTrain Level 3 recertification.
This schedule is ElecTrain’s program recommendation, not a required automotive retraining interval under NFPA 70E. Employers determine task-specific authorization after training.
Who this course is for
Personnel who previously completed Level 3 Energized Electric Vehicle and High Voltage Battery Technician Certification and need continuing training or recertification. Level 2 completion is a prerequisite for the initial Level 3 course.
What you will review
- Assess electrical hazards and risks for energized EV and high-voltage battery scenarios, then select appropriate controls and safe work practices.
- Evaluate changes in equipment, test methods, battery technology, and relevant practices.
- Review battery handling, storage, shipment, contact release, and accident response.
- For the in-person session, demonstrate practical performance and complete a written assessment.
